Good Morning Britain star Susanna Reid to step away from ‘extra work’ for her family: ‘I’ve made the decision this year’

Susanna Reid is planning to take time away from the small screen to focus on spending more time with her family.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, who has been a regular on the breakfast show since 2014 also co-hosted BBC Breakfast alongside Charlie Stayt and Bill Turnbull for 11 years.

And now it looks like the former Strictly Come Dancing star, 51, is ready to take a break to be there for her sons Sam, 19, Finn, 17, and Jack, 16.

‘I’ve made the decision this year, because my boys are doing GCSE and A levels, it is really important for me that I am present,’ she told The Sun’s Fabulous magazine.

‘So I’ve got Good Morning Britain, which is my full-time job, and then I’m there for the boys. I’ve got one more documentary coming out, which has already been filmed, but I actually made a decision not to do extra work,’ she added.

Since Piers Morgan’s infamous departure from the popular programme, a variety of presenters, including Richard Madeley, Charlotte Hawkins, Ranvir Singh, Kate Garraway, Bill Turner, and Alastair Campbell, have taken turns co-hosting.

Susanna hailed herself ‘very lucky’ to have the career that she does.

‘I work so early in the morning, I come off air at nine o’clock, have a nap, then I’m up for my boys at the end of school. That’s an enormous privilege,’ she said.

The journalist is among the 27 presenters celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8.

The annual global event is devoted to the celebration of women, honouring their achievements, and fighting for equality.

The ladies of Loose Women: Jane Moore, Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan, Christine Lampard, Brenda Edwards, Denise Welch, Frankie Bridge and Katie Piper will also be involved in the festivities.
