Christian Horner Backs Max Verstappen’s On-Track Aggression Despite Multiple Lewis Hamilton Incidents in 2021

The most aggressive Formula One driver on the grid at the moment? Well, the answer is pretty much straightforward – Max Verstappen. The overwhelming on-track aggression has offered Verstappen an equal share of fans and haters over the years.

And of course, quite occasionally, his driving style has left the entire Red Bull unit right at the edge of their seats with the inaugural Saudi Arabian GP being a prime example. Amid ever-rising confusion between the teams and the stewards, Verstappen potentially ‘brake-tested’ his rival, Lewis Hamilton, which eventually handed him a time penalty, denting his prospects of winning the championship.

Hence, one might wonder whether Red Bull’s boss, Christian Horner, or advisor, Dr. Helmut Marko, have had ‘the talk’ with the Dutchman, possibly seeking to tone down his on-track aggression. Well, it looks like Horner is pleased with Verstappen’s driving style and has no plans to have any sort of conversations with the Red Bull prodigy.

The Briton further insisted that Verstappen’s fame has only grown as big because of his aggressive driving style.

Red Bull boss supports the driving style of Max Verstappen

As reported by Motorsport, Horner admitted that he isn’t bothered about Verstappen’s aggression. “We talk about anything with Max, but those conversations always stay between us,” he told BBC.

He is a strong and aggressive driver. This driving style is the reason why he was named the most popular driver. You can be sure that he will always fight 110%. We really want him to maintain this driving style – if not in all circumstances. He showed tremendous maturity as well as his aggression last year – and let’s not forget that others have made mistakes as well.

There are other drivers who act aggressively, but yes, Max is an aggressive driver. That’s what makes him such a great driver. I’m totally confident that he will always be on the edge. That will feed him.

Overall, it looks like Verstappen will yet again be hard to tame as we march into the 2022 season. However, only in this case, it is certain that Lewis Hamilton, too, will look to bring about his A-game into play. Hence, are we in for what could be the most electrifying Formula One season of all time? Only time will tell.
