My friend hasn’t paid me for our McFly tickets – how do I tell her?

DEAR DEIDRE: I BOUGHT expensive tickets for me and my best friend to see the band McFly – and she still hasn’t paid me back.

I agreed to let her give me the money later because I have fewer financial commitments.

I feel hurt and don’t know how to approach this

No issue is too small, too large or too embarrassing. Read our personal replies here.

We’ve been friends for 20 years and are huge fans. We’re both 35.

She kept saying she would pay me soon and I said there was no rush.

When I realised she was finding it hard, I agreed she could just pay half and have the rest as a treat.

But the gig has now been and gone, and she still hasn’t paid me anything.

However, she has booked tickets for herself and other friends to go and see Harry Styles.

After the McFly gig, she sent me a text saying, “Thanks for tonight – it was so much fun!”

I feel hurt and don’t know how to approach this.

DEIDRE SAYS: She seems to have convinced herself the ticket was a gift.

If you don’t say something, this will prey on your mind and spoil the friendship.

Talk to her. Say there’s been some confusion and you want to sort this out so it doesn’t happen again.

My support pack, Standing Up For Yourself, should help.
