‘F the Gators’: A Brutal Tiger Woods Story Highlighting His Love for Stanford

And safe to say, this vintage tale will prove Woods’ loyalty towards his alma mater. PGA Tour veteran narrates a funny Tiger Woods story

Golf professionals and their relationship with basketball stars have always been a topic of interest for fans. In fact, Tiger is also among the long list of professionals who enjoy the sport and is also a very faithful supporter of his favorite team. Recently, a funny story about Woods and his equation with basketball came into the limelight.

Chris DiMarco narrated a comical story dating back to the 2005 Masters. He spoke in an interview that was uploaded on the PGA Tour of Champions’ official Twitter account.

DiMarco said, “2005  we were in the last group at Augusta and we’re on the range just two of us on the range. The Gators had won a national championship in basketball that year. So he was about 50 yards down. And I chipped a little ball down there and I wrote go Gators on it and he perfect little chip it goes right into his little bucket there and see if taken.”

He added, “Picks it up, and looks at it takes his sharpie out scratches, chips it back down to me. I pick up the ball and he scratched out go and he wrote f the Gators so I still have that ball.”

2005 Masters- A tough battle

On the business end, DiMarco gave a tough fight to Woods at Augusta that year. Both the professionals ended the event with an overall score of 12-under-par. As a result, they battled it out in an epic two-man playoff.

Tiger emerged as the winner after birding the first playoff hole. It was Woods’ fourth green jacket and a major win in nearly three years. Safe to say, looks like Tiger had the last laugh.
