I’m a fashion expert – eight secrets to successfully wearing white this spring like Vick Hope & Victoria Beckham
WHITE is the colour to be seen in this season.
While many avoid it due to its reputation for going see-through or staining easily, it’s heading down the catwalks of Fendi, Erdem and Dior – and starring on the red carpet as celebs embrace the look.

Daisy Edgar-Jones, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Victoria Beckham and Vick Hope have all dazzled in white dresses or trouser suits.

BUY RED UNDERWEAR
A RED bra won’t show under a white top, because red absorbs the light that makes it blend with your skin colour — whatever your skin tone — instead of reflecting it.
Wear seamless knickers and T-shirt bras rather than lacy ones, which will show through.
USE THE HAND TRICK

PEOPLE often worry a white outfit will look see-through, but only certain fabrics do this. When shopping, feel the fabric — is it double lined? Is it thick?
Holding the item up to the light will help you decide. Or if shopping online, look for fabrics such as jersey, crepe or viscose.
WASH WITH WHITENING POWDER
TO keep your whites right, always wash separately from coloureds, adding whitening powder, which you can get for under £5 at supermarkets.
To remove stains, rub with washing-up liquid and hot water, then wash in the machine.

WEAR WHITE TO COOL DOWN

WHITE is the best colour for summer as it repels the sun, just as black attracts it.
It also attracts less visible light than other colours, making it cooler to wear.
LEVEL UP YOUR LOOK

WEARING white from head to toe can instantly make your outfit look pricey, whatever it cost.
This dates from when only the rich wore white, as they could afford to get clothes properly cleaned.
WEAR WHITE WHATEVER YOUR SIZE
NOT being able to wear white if you are curvier is an old-school myth — everyone can wear it. But avoid flimsy fabrics which will highlight any areas you may want to keep covered.
Instead try clothes with structure which will give support. Extra embellishment and techniques such as ruching can also help.
AVOID CHUNKY SHOES
WHITE is seen as a symbol of elegance and sophistication, so forget chunky shoes that can distract from your well-put together look.
Instead wear sleek shoes — a heel, pointed flats or loafers, which will elongate your legs and keep your outfit’s flow on point.
