NASCAR Fans Have a Mixed Reaction to the Recent Jeff Gordon News

As part of their unofficial ‘two fixed one variable name’ in the broadcasting booth, FOX Sports announced the new, or rather, the old-new broadcaster for the race in Atlanta. After Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth, and Danica Patrick in the booth, Jeff Gordon will be taking the mic in the booth this coming weekend.

Gordon, who was a regular part of FOX’s broadcasting gig up until recently, had to let it go due to his obligations with Hendrick Motorsports. The obligations that saw him step up to the role of the Vice President in his former team.

But it seems like for one weekend, Mr. H has given his VP an exemption.

Now, this was something that led to mixed reactions from the fans.

Some fans welcomed Gordon’s inclusion back in the commentary booth, albeit for one race, while there were those who criticized Danica Patrick’s initial two-race stint that could extend.

There were some fans who also wondered whether FOX has run out of options that they’re returning to Gordon, while some questioned when Tony Stewart, who was an instant hit, will be back.

Mixed emotions over this. Going to be at the race, so will miss the broadcast. Will be great to have him back in the booth for a couple of weeks.

Jeff Gordon has his priorities straight in his new role

In an interview with Sports Business Journal, Jeff Gordon confessed that between his time behind the wheel, in his executive role at Hendrick, and his broadcasting gig at FOX, he’s “definitely ready and enjoying” his new role at HMS.

Gordon admitted he still has a lot to learn, and a lot is going on that is keeping him busy, but he’s enjoying every minute of it.

“I love being more involved with the people here and seeing the side of the business that I feel we can make better — just giving more to our sponsors,” he added.

“My priorities and things I want to focus on the most are: ‘What’s going to help us continue to stay at an elite level of cars, teams, competitively and all the ingredients it takes to do that?’”
