I work in Target – we have our own secret language customers don’t understand and we all dread a ‘clopen’

SHOPPERS might overhear Target employees using strange phrases and wish they knew the inside lingo.

Here is a look into the secret language of Target employees.

Many Target employees or “team members” hate when they have to do a “clopen,” Mental Floss reported.

This refers to an annoying situation where employees have a closing shift and then open the store the next morning.

“I’d (like to) get rid of the clopen shifts” former Target employee Adam told Mental Floss.

The Target “race track” is the main pathway that circles the store.

“One main aisle circles the store, with additional aisles running through the center and the perimeters, allowing for more space to display product,” the store’s website says.

“Reshop” is any merchandise that is out of place and needing to be returned to its home location, and “zoning” is the practice of organizing every item on the shelves so the labels are facing forward.

While their language may be secret, Target employees promise they are not hiding any products from customers.

Michael, a team member at Target, said customers might assume he is lying when he cannot locate a certain product for them.

“Many guests believe that we have literally every item in the back room,” Michael said. “On our devices it may say we have X amount of an item on hand. In reality, that number takes a while to update if it’s been sold.”

Team members also admitted the classic Target uniform, a red shirt and khakis, is not always the most ideal outfit for the job.

Katherine said customers mistake other customers for Target employees if they are dressed similarly and also said, “the khakis can be uncomfortable,” when walking around the store all day.

Secrets to saving money at Target

With the inflation rate on the rise, everyone could benefit from cutting costs during their next Target trip.

People looking to save a quick buck can bring reusable bags for their next shopping spree, as customers get a $0.05 discount for each reusable bag they use.

Target will also price match any products that are priced lower on their own website.

On top of that, Target will price match several competitors if they are selling the same merchandise at a lower price.
