‘My Family and I Are Horrified’ – Roger Federer Announces Chivalrous Gesture for Ukrainian Children

Swiss Maestro Roger Federer, who is eyeing to make a comeback later this year on the ATP tour, recently announced his donation for children in Ukraine. The Roger Federer foundation aims to provide education to children in need and teamed up with War Child Holland, an independent NGO.

Federer took to Twitter to share the information as he wrote, “My family and I are horrified seeing pictures from Ukraine and heartbroken for the innocent people who have been terrible affected. We stand for peace.”

The 20-time Grand Slam champion later explained that he will donate $500,000 in order to provide education access to the Ukrainian children who suffered.

We will provide assistance to children from Ukraine who need care, about 6 million Ukrainian children are currently out of school and we know it’s a very critical time to provide access to education and would like to support them to deal with this extremely traumatic experience.”

The donation will take place through the Roger Federer foundation alongside War Child Holland. After Andy Murray vowed to donate his prize money to the kids in need, it’s the Swiss star who came out to contribute from his end.

Recently, ex-tennis player Sergiy Stakhovsky also informed the world about Federer’s response to his message of support. Along with several Ukrainian tennis players who are contributing in their own way, top players like Andy Murray and Roger Federer have taken up the responsibility of educating children in Ukraine.
