‘Focused on Finding Solutions’-Iga Swiatek Reveals Ash Barty’s Mindset That Inspires Her

Iga Swiatek first grabbed people’s attention in 2019, and then again in 2020, when she became the French Open champion. She is the youngest player in the WTA top 10.  The polish woman has been quite consistent in her short but impressive career so far. Right now, she is playing at the Indian Wells Masters where she has reached the semifinals.

After her quarterfinal match, she opened up about how she is trying to enjoy her matches more even when the situation is not completely in her favor.

“I’m also trying to find fun when I’m playing when the score is pretty tight,” she said.

She spoke about how she is taking inspiration from the world No. 1, Ashleigh Barty, who seems to thrive in matches despite being on the back foot. Even though Barty withdrew from both Indian Wells and Miami Masters, she holds the top spot by a huge margin. Barty, who won her 3rd Grand Slam at the Australian Open 2022, is a fighter and her on-court demeanor is exceptional.

“Yes, for sure more fun than when I’m losing. I felt really comfortable. I am also trying to get some file as well from matches which are type stuff before where I felt stressed korma I couldn’t really make that fun. But right now I am more focused on finding solutions and I want every match to be a lesson for me,” Swiatek said after the match.
