Fortnite fans fume after Chapter 3: Season 2 DISABLES building

FORTNITE’S latest season is finally here and fans are baffled by one major change to the game.

Players of Chapter 3: Season 2 have been banned from building following the global launch of the update on Sunday.

Fortnite has blocked players from building… for now

It means one of Fortnite’s core game mechanics is unavailable for the time being – though it’s expected to return soon.

Players are unable to construct or repair basic structures such as walls, floors, stairs and roofs.

On Twitter, some fans responded with dismay to the change.

“I feel like building makes the game what it is,” one person moaned. “Without it, there really isn’t a reason to play it.”

Another tweeted: “They ruined the one thing that made this game good.”

Others suggested that the lack of building may make the game friendlier to inexperienced players.

One tweeter wrote: “Fortnite was fun at first because everyone was new to building and the skill gap wasn’t too high or too low.

“Then they started adding a lot of s**t and the good people got way too good at building and the casuals quit. I think this will balance it out though.”

Developer Epic Games regularly switches things up with the release of a new Fortnite season every few months.

The latest update is Chapter 3: Season 2 – which follows on from Season 1 launched in December.

To balance the lack of building, players now have an additional shield for defence called an “overshield.”

A parkour-style form of movement that combine faster sprinting and climbing has also been added to the game.

Blimps and tanks have also been introduced as well as a handful of new guns.

Players can also expect new character crossovers with popular TV and film franchises.

It’s unclear when building will return to the battle-royale shooter.

An in-game message shown to players reads: “Building has been wiped out. It’s up to the Resistance to get it back.

The message continues: “Jump in with your squad and help The Seven uncover the Imagined Orders nefarious plan.”

Ahead of the season’s announcement, Epic pledged to donate two weeks of its Fortnite earnings to support Ukraine-related humanitarian efforts.

This will last from March 20 through April 3.
