Arsenal star Bukayo Saka misses England training and stays in St George’s Park hotel room with illness

BUKAYO SAKA missed England training on Wednesday through illness with the Arsenal star staying in his St George’s Park hotel room.

The 20-year-old tested negative for Covid upon arrival at England‘s base camp on Tuesday.

FA doctors will be keeping an eye on Saka and he’s expected to be tested again in the next 24 hours.

England will be hopeful the winger can recover in time for their friendly against Switzerland on Saturday.

Gareth Southgate has seen another player withdraw from the squad in Sam Johnstone, who was in line to stand in for the absent Aaron Ramsdale.

The West Brom goalkeeper has been replaced by Southampton shot-stopper Fraser Forster.

England stars arrive at St George’s as Southgate’s squad prepares for friendlies

Forster, 34, hasn’t played for England since May 2016, but has been in good form the the Saints this season.

He has played 12 consecutive matches since Boxing Day.

Reece James, Ramsdale and Trent Alexander-Arnold all haven’t reported for international duty.

Roma record-breaking goal scorer Tammy Abraham won’t be involved in the friendlies either.


Tyrick Mitchell, Kyle Walker-Peters and Ollie Watkins have all been given a chance to shine in their place.

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has also been handed a first senior international call-up.

The South London club have three players involved with the England set-up this month.
