My only son refused to see me on my birthday – he didn’t even buy a card
DEAR DEIDRE: MY only son refused to see me on my birthday.

He didn’t even give me a birthday card.
I’m a single mother, aged 45, and he’s 22.
As my birthday was on a Sunday, I’d hoped we could do something together – have lunch, go out for tea, maybe see a film.
But I ended up having a rotten day, alone.
He doesn’t work or pay me any rent but I’m happy to support him until he gets a job.
