Bubba Wallace Opens on the Lasting Impacts of His Ugly Wreck in Atlanta ⁩

Bubba Wallace has been racing for quite a long time now. But it wasn’t until Atlanta last week that the 23XI Racing driver experienced the full wrath of a high-speed wreck.

Wallace found himself a part of the last lap wreck at Atlanta Motor Speedway as his No.23 Camry hit the wall sideways and immediately came to a stop.

Such was the severity and force of the impact that it left the Talladega winner short of breath for a few seconds. And when you consider how it was only a few months ago that he underwent shoulder surgery, the extent of the potential damage that could’ve been becomes even higher.

However, luckily for Wallace and his team, no such damage happened. Although it wasn’t until a few hours after the race that he felt the true impact of his wreck.

Ahead of his Xfinity Series race at COTA, Bubba Wallace described that he wasn’t feeling okay for a few days after the race in Atlanta. “Wednesday I was like finally good,” he said.

“Anything I was worried about was my shoulder, had a surgery offseason. And I was able to move that easily, and then about an hour after the race the adrenaline wore off and I was like, it hurts to move, but we did therapy.”

Freddie Kraft, the spotter of Bubba Wallace describes the Atlanta wreck

The 23XI Racing driver went from a place to have a shot at the win to being bamboozled around within seconds, something which was worse than it looked for him.

Wallace’s spotter, Freddie Kraft, recently revealed the severity of the impact of the wreck, calling the part of the track where it happened, “probably the worst possible place” where one can be involved in such an incident.

“It’s as hard as Bubba’s ever hit the wall,” Kraft said. “People talk about Pocono but yesterday the abrupt stop he came to yesterday, I knew he was gonna be, the wind was gonna be knocked out of (him) pretty bad.”

“He could not talk, I don’t know for a minute, a minute and a half or so. I could hear him trying to catch his breath.”
