“Dana White, Khamzat Chimaev, I’m Ready to Go”- Neil Magny’s Bold Call-Out After Equalling George St-Pierre’s Record at UFC Columbus

Neil Magny created history on Saturday at UFC Columbus after emerging victorious over Max Griffin. Not only did the stellar welterweight equal Georges St-Pierre’s record, but also called out Swedish MMA phenomenon Khamzat Chimaev, yet again.

‘The Haitian Sensation’ Magny put on a dedicated fight against his opponent Max Griffin at the UFC Columbus. Even though the #9 UFC welterweight was dropped early in the very first round of the fight, he recovered and returned to the match with a hard fought second round.

The 2nd round saw Griffin landing more right hands on Magny. However, this time, Magny made sure to return them with some fine punches straight into the middle. The second round ended with both of the fighters engaging in a back-and-forth lead by ‘The Haitian Sensation’.

Meanwhile, it was the 3rd round where Magny pulled another weapon from his arsenal, wrestling. Magny was quick to take Griffin’s back and put on a show before the final buzzer separated both of the fighters.

The fight was a tough one to call, but the judges went with Neil Magny as the winner, awarded via a split decision. Magny, with this win, equaled UFC legend Georges St-Pierre‘s record of most wins in the welterweight division, 19.

“I’ve been in this sport for a very long time, chasing a lot of ghosts, so to be up there with one of the greats? It feels amazing, DC,” Magny told former UFC dual division champion Daniel Cormier.

Although Magny took more fights to reach this feat, it is almost sure that he will break the Canadian’s record. And to do that, he also has an opponent in mind.

It is public knowledge that Magny was one of the few welterweight to accept Khamzat Chimaev’s open challenge at the UFC. Now, as he creates history at UFC Columbus, ‘The Haitian Sensation’ has again expressed his desire to fight the Chechnyan-born Swede.

In his callout, Magny mentioned UFC President Dana White and reminded him it has been a year since he asked for the fight.

“Dana White, Khamzat Chimaev, I’m ready to go. I’ve been chasing this fight for over a year,” Magny said.

Currently, Chimaev is scheduled to fight Gilbert Burns at UFC 273. Hence, it looks like Magny might have to wait a little more before expecting something from the premiere promotion.
