F1 Fans Bash Broadcasters for Poor Leclerc-Verstappen Replays at Jeddah

What a great day of racing it was in Jeddah. The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix has given the fans a race to remember. After a shocking and unexpected qualifying on Saturday, the circuit has lived up to its name for being the fastest street circuit. However, the fans aren’t happy about the broadcasting methods.

A brilliant fight to the finish between Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc glued the viewers to their seats. The two young guns faced off against each other once again after Bahrain. Verstappen ended up being the winner this time. Despite a good tussle between the two, the viewer alleged that they missed out on a good part for the broadcasters.

The F1 cars now have a camera mounted on their helmet. They use a 2.5gm camera for this. This was done to give the viewers a better way to understand the close-up race. The Helmet-Camera shows the Point of view of the driver from the cockpit.

Despite the newness of the view, the viewers are upset by the way it was broadcasted in Saudi Arabia. When two cars race against each other, the fans want to see the general pan view from the side or above. However, the broadcaster was sticking to helmet camera angles to show the cars fighting against each other.

The extent of this went to a certain stage that the commentator had to call up to show the live race back again. Fans are certainly not happy about this and they took to Twitter to share their disappointments.

The F1 fans are fuming at the broadcasters

Let’s see what they’ve got to say about this:

Not sure why the F1 broadcast is so in love with a blurry helmet cam. Nothing better than watching a blurred image bouncing around!

they’ve been bad today but some of the shots during practice/qualifying were some of the most visually compelling things i’ve ever seen

Fun in quali, but can’t see shit during an overtake

Agreed. Cool view for practice but not when we want to see two cars battle.

Between late race replays and the stupid helmet glare cams at the end, and showing Lewis racing for P10 while the race for the lead was down to DRS sections, today’s TV team completely and utterly blew it. They ought to be fired and replaced. It gets worse every week.
