The first round started with both of the UFC heavyweights proceeding cautiously with their stand-up game, a style that favors the precision striker in Daukaus. However, Blaydes may have taken the upper hand in the round. The first round ended with an unintentional eye poke by Blaydes, prompting referee Herb Dean to check on the Philadelphian.

But all the speculations ended as Curtis Blaydes came into the second round with clear intentions and knocked out Daukaus with a clean right hand. Then he finished the former police officer with ground and pound as referee Herb Dean stopped the fight.
