James Harden, the new 76er has been performing pretty well since his arrival in Philadelphia. Harden has been active on scoring and on the rebounds. Playing alongside Joel Embiid, the duo has shown their amazing chemistry on the court.
The 76ers are currently holding onto as the second seed in the East. Though the Sixers are in a strong position to finish as at least top 4 in the East, fans around the league are expecting Harden to step up.
Not only the fans, but even the commentators are also forgetting Harden’s skills.
James Harden gets an unexpected comparison to Luka Doncic
In a recent game versus the Clippers, Harden’s signature step back was compared to Doncic’s game. With a little over 2 minutes into the game, Harden hit his signature step back three on Ivica Zubac. The commentator’s reaction had James Harden fans confused. As one commentator said, “Flashes of Doncic right there…”. Fans on Twitter shared their mixed reactions.

This had fans confused, as this was Harden’s signature move. Harden is known for making step back three’s. In the 2019-20 NBA season, Harden had made 195 step back three’s in the first half of the season.
Luka Doncic admitted that he was inspired by Harden’s moves when he first came into the league. Though there is nothing wrong with getting influenced by young talent, Harden’s reputation among some fans has been sliding off.
Is James Harden not playing like himself?
For almost 5 seasons, Harden averaged 30 plus points a game. Including one MVP season. In this insane scoring run, Harden led the Rockets to the West Finals in 2018 alongside Chris Paul, where he was his closest to winning a championship.

Harden has been slacking scoring-wise, ever since he joined the Nets in the 2020-21 season. His numbers still look solid, but the fans are more used to the James Harden who scores 30 every other night.
The obvious reason is elite scorers around him, which took quite some load off him. Though if Harden can step up his scoring, the 76ers will become a serious threat in the playoffs.
