Here, Style Editor Samantha Harman reveals exactly what your number one high street store says about you, and whether you follow trends – or set them…

Zara 

You’re the friend who always gets asked for style advice, or asked ‘where did you get that?’ 

You’re not necessarily looking for something specific when you shop in Zara – but you know when you find it.

You’re not afraid of colours or a quirky shape.

Where other people might think ‘oh no what the hell is that?!’, you see great outfit potential.

You have a talent for spotting sell-out items and Harry Styles is your style icon.

River Island 

You love life and you’re always ready to have a good time.

Dressing up is lots of fun for you and you’re not afraid to experiment with your style.

Sequins? Feathers? Fringing? Sky high heels?

Sure why not, you’ll give it a go.

You don’t believe in saving clothes for best, every day is a chance to have some fun, right?

You’re in here looking for your next great party outfit. 

H&M 

The chic, cool girl I wish I could be!

Summer is your favourite time of year and you look effortless wafting around in milkmaid or boho-style dresses.

You would say you’re eco conscious and you’re not one for giant sprees – but you might not admit how much of your style is swayed by what you see on your fave instagrammer.

If there’s a HM x designer collab you’re interested in, best believe you’re getting up at 5am to get a piece. 

You’d opt for ‘pared back’ (usually jeans and an oversized shirt) in a not-sure-what-to-wear situation and your Pinterest board is a homage to French chic.

Mango 

You are one classy lady.

Friends would probably describe you as the sophisticated one.

You don’t really go in for trends, you’d much rather choose classic pieces that you know you’ll get lots of wear from than something which is all the rage on social media.

But accessories are where you have fun, and you’ve got far more open-toe sandals than you could ever possibly wear in a British summertime.

Your ideal vacation would be a European city break where your collection of basket bags wouldn’t look quite so out of place.

I salute you, devotee to style.

Where some might panic, this is your time to shine!

All those busy rails don’t fill you with dread, they fill you with excitement.

You have a gift for unearthing gems and you love having things no one else does.

Primark 

Primark shoppers are pretty devoted to this budget high street chain.

You don’t feel that the quality is any less than anywhere else, but it’s half the price… why shop elsewhere? 

Primark shoppers want your look to feel current, but without breaking the bank.

You get a kick from piecing together an outfit other people think is from a more expensive store. 

As Primark doesn’t have an online presence, there’s never any guarantees you’ll find what you’re looking for.

To some this is a headache they can’t be doing with, but you relish the challenge.

By now you’ve mastered the layout of your local store and you know when is the best time to go in to avoid the crowds, or when to get the new stock drops.

Next 

There’s no place like home for the Next shopper.

Cosy loungewear is where it’s at.

You tend to go shopping for the whole family, and shop with purpose.

Your love of Next isn’t just about the clothes, you love Next homeware too and you probably have an account.

You aren’t really one for impulse purchases for yourself and when you like something, you might buy it in several colours.

You would say you don’t follow trends but you do sometimes feel you’d like to add a bit of pizzaz to your personal style.
