WITH summer just around the corner – though it certainly doesn’t feel like that today – it’s time to update your wardrobe.

In a short clip on TikTok, Karla Cristina (@karlaclc96), from the USA, demonstrated how to make a DIY crop top with a vest – and there are no scissors involved.
At the start of the viral video, which has been viewed by more than 1.6 million people, the blogger could be seen standing in front of the camera wearing a pair of light blue mum jeans and a figure-hugging wide strap vest in cream.
According to Karla, who stumbled upon this hack on social media, there are only three steps involved and it takes less than a minute.
To turn your vest into a crop top in a matter of seconds, start by turning it inside out.

Then put it on from top to bottom, with the arm area around your hips – this will do all the magic later on.
For those who wear bras, grab yours and wear it as normal on top of the vest.
Then, Karla demonstrated, grab each strap from the side and pull your arms through them.
If necessary, make slight adjustments by pulling the DIY crop top down and straightening out the straps.

”The purpose of this video is to show how quickly we can make a crop top when we don’t have one available,” she captioned the hack which has been liked 90,000 times.
Although Karla didn’t reveal where the vest was from, it appeared to be very similar to the cult favourite wide strap Zara top, which retails for £11.99.

With the fashion industry having a severe impact on the environment, it is also worth mentioning that this trick will not only save you money but also the planet.
But whilst some loved the hack and branded Karla a ”genius”, not everyone was impressed.
”Just buy a crop top?,” wrote someone, whilst another critic thought the process took too much time.
