POLICE horses are being trained to help them cope with “woke nonsense” rainbow-flag road crossings.

Police horses are being trained to help them cope with ‘woke nonsense’ rainbow-flag road crossings

Met Police Mounted Branch officers issued pictures of steeds learning how to trot across the markings, being unveiled by councils across the UK.

But former Met Det Chief Insp Mick Neville called it “silly woke nonsense”.

He said: “These painted crossings are nothing but virtue-signalling claptrap and, as well as being potentially dangerous, are a complete waste of taxpayers’ money.”

The Colourful Crossings project is part of a worldwide Asphalt Art initiative but has been called dangerous by disabled and guide dog groups.

Footage has emerged of a horse pulling up and refusing to go over one painted road.

London’s Met posted a series of tweets outlining their concerns.

They said “some of the horses are getting spooked by the bright colours”.

Training versions of the painted crossings have been installed at the Met’s grounds in Gravesend, Kent.

The force said: “The differing shades and patterns of a colourful crossing could suggest an obstacle in the road, causing a horse to shy from something that we, as humans, do not see.”
