Dog walker furious after fancy £75 wellies left her feet soaked told by company they are NOT waterproof

A DOG walker who complained when her fancy wellies left her feet soaked was told they are not waterproof.

Alison Connolly paid £75 for a pair of Rydale boots so she could splash on the beach with her dog Luci.

But after suffering soggy socks, the makers told her the boots are not waterproof above the ankle, despite ads showing them immersed in a deep puddle.

Alison, 37, of Porthmadog, Gwynedd, said: “Am I being unreasonable expecting £75 wellies to be waterproof – is that not what wellies were made for?

“I was looking for some decent wellies because of Luci. She was fearful of water, so I walk in the shallow water to encourage her.

“Now she loves splashing in the sea and I walk miles with her every day, so I decided to treat myself to some better quality wellies than I’d usually buy.

“At £75, they were a luxury for me. So I was obviously disappointed when I realised my feet were getting wet.

“They leaked. Even through two layers of socks, my feet were very soggy.

“I contacted the company because I was sure they must be faulty, but was informed that they are not designed for use in water. It blew my mind.

“Their response was basically that I shouldn’t wear them in water, but their advert suggests otherwise.”

Rydale told her deep water may get in through the side zip, adding: “There is no such thing as a waterproof zip.”

The firm has not commented to The Sun.
