Twitter’s edit button will not be accessible to all as it will be only available to Twitter Blue members.

In order to access the edit feature, users will need to pay for a monthly subscription to Twitter Blue.

According to PEOPLE magazine, Twitter Blue will not only feature an edit button but other options as well.

“Edit has been the most requested Twitter feature for many years. People want to be able to fix (sometimes embarrassing) mistakes, typos and hot takes in the moment. They currently work around this by deleting and tweeting again,” tweeted Jay Sullivan, head of consumer product at the company.

“This is just one feature we are exploring as we work to give people more choice and control over their Twitter experience, foster a healthy conversation, and help people be more comfortable on Twitter. These are the things that motivate us every day,” he added.

The feature has been in the works since 2021 according to the company.

Sullivan added that he understands the concern that an edit option could ” be misused to alter the record of the public conversation” ensuring the company will take the necessary time to properly build the feature.

How can I get Twitter Blue?

Users can purchase Twitter Blue through Twitter’s payment partner stripe.

What are people saying about Twitter’s edit button?

On April 5, 2022, following the news of Elon Musk’s purchase of 10 percent of Twitter, one user commented on Musk’s addition to the board.

The user wrote: “Don’t sleep on the fact that Elon Musk is the richest man in the world, literally he is that, and he looked around at all of the problems he could solve with his money and what he settled on was that “twitter doesn’t have an edit button.” Just god-tier stupid.”

Another user wrote that they were not in favor of the edit button.

“Twitter doesn’t need an edit button cos if this feature is added, it will cause complete chaos which in turn will ruin the platform; Twitter thrives on raw tweets, editing a tweet will affect the quoted retweets, replies & shared articles contextually. An edit button is a no-no.”

On April 4, 2022, Musk tweeted: “Do you want an edit button?”

A total of 73.6 percent of those who participated in his poll voted yes, compared to 26.4 percent who voted against it.

Twitter’s official account reassured those that it has been working on the feature for over a year and it is not a result of Musk’s poll.
