Kevin Durant Revealed Why His Dad Was the First Person to Break His Heart: “I Was Like, Damn. I Was Really Hurt”

Kevin Durant is one of the greatest scorers in the NBA and has made his mark in the basketball world by putting in a lot of effort and dedication. Although he now has a highly successful career, his childhood growing up with his mother and siblings wasn’t particularly great.

He discussed this during an interview in which he described how his father broke his heart for the first time. Despite being a 2 time NBA champion, a 2-time finals MVP, a 12 time NBA all-star, a 4-time scoring champion, and an MVP, many people may not know about his life outside of basketball.

With more than 13 seasons of playing in the NBA, he has given his all to the sport and achieved everything he ever wished for in fame and popularity. His maturity and down-to-earth personality make him stand out from the crowd.

Additionally, he has talked about his life and the struggles he has faced while becoming the person he is today. As he outlined how he dealt with every pain that has made him this mature, he also spoke about his father and how much his father meant to him. As well as the first heartbreak he felt when he was a child.

Durant recalled how much he used to look forward to his father returning home so that they could spend time together and do things that children normally do with their parents. However, he also mentioned how much he disliked it when his father had to leave after spending a few days with him.

Kevin Durant spoke openly about his father during an interview

There are only a few instances in which Durant has talked about his father. In one of his comments, he mentioned how difficult it was not to see his father every day while growing up.

In his explanation of whenever his dad returned home, he remarked, “I was just, like, Damn, man, that’s tight! My dad here! He would pick me up from school. Me, him, and my brother would just chill and play video games together and go eat before we go in the house.”

When his father left the house, his reaction was: “I was like, Damn. I was really hurt. That was the first time I’d ever been hurt by anything. I’m always used to, like, keeping it inside, and it’d go away in a day.”

The things that fathers and sons do together on a daily basis were so important to Durant, and he always wanted to enjoy doing them together. He still misses many of the things he missed as a child. Feel free to share your thoughts about this.
