My outgoing husband has become a recluse after the death of his brother

DEAR DEIDRE: OVER the past few years, my outgoing husband has become a recluse who has no interest in anything other than the TV.

He’s 45, I’m 42 and we’ve been married for six years. At the start of our relationship, he was a party animal.

He changed when his brother died – now he just sits on the sofa watching Netflix

Every weekend, we’d be out meeting new people and trying new places. He always wanted sex too.

But he changed when his brother died in a car accident last year. Now he just sits on the sofa watching Netflix.

He rarely leaves the house and has stopped taking care of himself. He can go days without showering.

I can’t remember the last time we had sex. I worry about him and our relationship. I miss him.

DEIDRE SAYS: It sounds like your husband might be depressed and is struggling to come to terms with the loss of his brother.

Encourage him to speak to his GP, who may be able to refer him for some grief counselling.
