My son is really struggling and no one will help – is he autistic?
DEAR DEIDRE: MY six-year-old son is really struggling and nobody will help him – or me.
He has severe anxiety, cannot tolerate a change in his routine, struggles with loud noises and refuses to change his clothes because he gets attached to a particular jumper.
I’ve been trying to get him assessed but nobody will listen

More worrying, he behaves very impulsively, and is prone to doing dangerous things, such as running into the road.
I’m 37 and have noticed something wasn’t right with him since he was tiny.
But his school doesn’t seem to see a problem.
I think that’s because my son masks and copies other children’s behaviour to fit in.
As soon as he gets home, he has a complete meltdown because he has been keeping everything in all day.
