Coronation Street star Simon Gregson ‘quizzed by cops in Aintree bust-up at Toby Carvery’ days after topless bar rant

CORONATION Street’s Simon Gregson was questioned in the back of a police van after a bust up with another bloke in a pub opposite the Grand National racecourse.

The soap star, 47, was reportedly pinned to the ground by bouncers before officers arrived at the Toby Carvery.

Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson was questioned in the back of a police van

Last week The Sun on Sunday revealed he was booted out of a bar after taking his shirt off and dancing on a platform

He was pictured drinking Guiness in one the Grand National’s luxury suites and had enjoyed hospitality with other celebs at Aintree Ladies Day on Friday.

A source told The Sunday Mirror: “There was a bust-up and bouncers kicked him out – they pinned him to the ground before the police arrived.

“He was taken to the police van and spoken to for some time. It was all very messy.”

Merseyside Police confirmed two men were involved in an altercation inside the Rocking Horse pub in Aintree, Liverpool, on Friday night. No injuries were reported and the victim did not make a formal complaint.

Hours before Friday’s bust-up, Gregson posed with Princess Anne’s daughter Zara TIndall. 40, and her ex-England rugby captain husband Mike, 43, during his day at the races.

He also rubbed shoulders with ex-footballer Dion Dublin, 52, comedian Jason Manford, 40, and Olympic heptathlete Kelly Sotherton, 45.

Last week The Sun on Sunday revealed how the ITV star, who earns £150,000 playing Steve McDonald, was asked to leave a bar after taking off his shirt and dancing topless on a platform at a co-star’s leaving do.

A witness said: “He was the life and soul of the party but took it a bit far and it annoyed the bar staff and bouncers in the end.”

Video shows Simon topless and arguing with bouncers as they attempt to pull him down from a piece of furniture.

It shows him with his belly overhanging his dark jeans, rowing with two bar staff, gesticulating at one of them, as they remonstrate with him over his antics.

As some crowd members shout abuse, a bouncer twice grabs his arm as he orders him down at the Albert’s Schloss bar in Manchester’s Deansgate area.

A lip-reading expert said Simon could be seen apparently saying “f**k” and then “f**k you” as the two members of staff try to calm him down.

He then appears to say “I will get down” before leaving the stage.

After he had got up with his shirt off, some crowd members booed and one shouted abuse at the actor.

Street veteran Simon, a regular on the cobbles since 1989, was out to say farewell to Alexandra, who plays his on-screen daughter Emma Brooker.
