VIDEO: Nick Kyrgios Continues His Obsessive Rant Against Chair Umpire as He Loses Drama-Filled Match to Reilly Opelka at ATP Houston 2022

Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios lost his action-packed semifinal against Reilly Opelka at the U.S Men’s Clay Court Championships in Houston. . The match was anything but dull, as it had plenty of drama during the second set. Again, the Aussie player could not resist his emotions and showed his displeasure towards the chair umpire in his loss against the American.

The match started with the big-serving American dominating on serve as he won the first set 6-3. After losing the opening set, Nick dig deep to show a tremendous fight in the second set. However, things started to go south when the score was 5-5 in the second set. In the 11th game, at 30-15, Kyrgios faced a possibly bad call from the chair umpire. After that, he showed visible frustration towards the chair umpire.

Another week, another meltdown at an umpire for Nick Kyrgios, getting a point penalty for audible obscenity down break point at 5-5 in the Houston semifinals.

Kyrgios was still seething over what he thought was a missed call on an earlier point.

Opelka served it out, 6-3, 7-5.

When he was 30-40 down and facing a breakpoint, he swore at the chair umpire for an erroneous call. As a result, he got a point penalty and lost the game. During the changeover, he showed his clear frustration towards the chair umpire. Although the chair umpire did accept his mistake, Kyrgios didn’t stop his rant. Later, the American tennis player served it out to finish the match in two sets (6-3,7-5) to reach the final in Houston.

Previously, Kyrgios received massive fines from ATP for his audible obscenity and racket throwing incident, in Miami and Indian Wells, respectively. He received a combined $60,000 fine from both tournaments. It remains to be seen if he is penalized for his latest outburst in Houston.

Kyrgios will return to the French Open next year

Earlier, the Australian star shocked the entire tennis world by announcing his participation at the French Open next year. Notably, the Aussie star didn’t play in the French Open for the last four years due to his lack of interest in playing on clay. However, he has expressed his interest of featuring at Roland Garros next year as his girlfriend wishes to explore Paris.

Even though Kyrgios hasn’t played much on clay, he was pretty impressive in Houston. If he can control his emotions on the court, he certainly has the potential to pose a serious challenge to any player on the tour on any surface.
