Viewers watched as Emma went off for a new life in Australia with new love Jon.

He forgave her for killing his grandad and lying to him for weeks, and the pair decided to move to the other side of the world to open up a beach bar.

But as Emma said her goodbyes to her friends and family, she was in tears.

And the tears didn’t stop flowing for Alexandra after the director called cut.

CRISIS ACTOR

Corrie star Simon ‘quizzed by cops in Aintree bust-up’ after topless bar rant

“I was so lucky and really pleased that my last scene was my final scene, especially with Covid still lurking around and schedules changing,” she told The Sun and other media.

“I wasn’t expecting it to be that emotional.

“I knew, obviously, that I was going to be upset to say goodbye to everyone, but when the assistant director said, ‘That’s a wrap. That’s Alexandra’s last scene,’ I just burst into tears, uncontrollably.

“I could not stop.

“I thought, ‘What’s wrong with me?’ I was just so overwhelmed. I think because of all the support of the cast and crew being there at that moment and coming to say goodbye.

“It really overwhelmed me and I was very upset – very sad to say goodbye.”

Initially Alexandra signed up for just a six month stint on the soap.

“My initial contract was only for six months and, for me, that wasn’t long enough,” she added.

“I was just praying that I got to stick around for a bit longer. Luckily, I did.”

And leaving was a difficult decision: “It was really difficult. Even now I’m like, ‘What have I done?’

“I know it’s right for me, but I can see how people stay there for 20 or 60 years, because it’s just such an amazing place to work.”

And she hasn’t ruled out returning, despite only just leaving.

“Saying goodbye was hard enough,” she added.

“But that hope that one day, you know, there’s a possibility I could go back, that kind of keeps me going.

“It might not be goodbye forever. You never know.”
