Denny Hamlin Proudly Reacts as Sam Mayer Recreates His Iconic NASCAR Moment After His Brawl With Ty Gibbs

At 41, Denny Hamlin is one of the veterans in NASCAR today. But his role in the sport isn’t strictly comparable to other veterans like Kurt Busch and Kevin Harvick.

However, as most senior drivers intentionally or unintentionally do, Denny Hamlin is proving to be an example for the younger generation, the new crop of drivers.

But not in the way you’d expect, certainly not in this instance.

This is because the Joe Gibbs Racing driver seems to have influenced Xfinity Series driver Sam Mayer in being a good impersonator.

Ahead of the race in Martinsville, Hamlin impersonated Team Penske driver Joey Logano in a hilarious way as he mimicked the way Logano would speak of “short track racing.”

Similarly, Sam Mayer, under completely different circumstances and context, which was of him addressing his post-race brawl with Ty Gibbs, mimicked Denny Hamlin’s mimicry of Joey Logano.

Obviously, NASCAR saw the parallels and created a comparison video that they put up on their social media accounts. “Molding of the younger generation of drivers isn’t a option. It’s a responsibility,” Hamlin wrote in reaction to the Twitter post of the video.

Denny Hamlin isn’t pleased with recent 23XI Racing performances

Speaking in a pre-race conference at Martinsville on the back of his Richmond race win, Denny Hamlin addressed the ongoing mess at 23XI Racing, a team he is the co-owner of.

He described that they’re “trying to stop the bleeding” over there.

Hamlin explained the “two-week slump” that his team has to get out of by highlighting the pit crew woes for the No.23 team as well as the “freak show” of the No.45 that got a new sponsor while the car sat in the garage for 100 laps.

Denny Hamlin said they’re trying to address all the issues there are.

“Hopefully we look back on this two months from now and say, it’s just a little bump in the road, because certainly it’s not acceptable by any means,” he added.
