Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Dustin Poirier, Sean O’Malley & Others React to UFC “Fight of the Year” Contender Khamzat Chimaev vs Gilbert Burns

The Russian hype train has finally proved himself. Khamzat Chimaev proved why he’s undoubtedly one of the hottest properties of the UFC right now. ‘The Borz’ defeated Gilbert ‘Durinho’ Burns in spectacular fashion.

This is a gigantic win for Chimaev which is very likely going to disrupt the welterweight division. Trading blows left right and center, Chimaev kept his distance with Burns and made use of his range and size to get the better of Burns. Fighting like he had nothing to lose, Khamzat Chimaev has now silenced the haters and is officially a part of the big leagues.

With an absolutely spectacular performance on Chimaev as well as Burns part, the world of MMA just witnessed one of the best fights in recent times. Various UFC superstars reacted to the fight just moments after. It’s safe to say that they were more than surprised.

Holy shit.

Khamzat Chimaev: One step closer to welterweight gold

Things have just been set in overdrive mode for the welterweight division despite being the most likely outcome. A majority of fans have been wanting to see Chimaev go up against Kamaru Usman given their similarities in their fighting style.

That being said, title shots are usually not handed out as fast as just after facing one high ranked opponent. So the question now begs, what’s next for ‘The Borz’? Dana White recently stated that he sees Khamzat Chimaev face Colby Covington after UFC 273. Covington is undoubtedly the second best welterweight, right behind Kamaru Usman.

If Chimaev were to beat Covington, a title shot becomes inevitable. The path for welterweight gold would be clear as day. Stylistically speaking, this is the closest we could get to watching Khabib Nurmagomedov go up against Kamaru Usman. But Chimaev has proved to be a unique beast in and of himself, making his mark in the UFC. Winter is coming, and so is ‘The Wolf’.
