‘F**K You, You Piece of S**t’ – Nick Kyrgios Falls Victim to Plethora of Hate Following His Outburst at ATP Houston
Nick Kyrgios is regarded as one of the most entertaining players on the tour. Having his unconventional game in place, the 26-year-old is undoubtedly amongst the most loved players in the professional circuit. However, as they say, ‘Stardom always comes at a price’. Even though Kyrgios has a huge fan base, he is also a victim of social media hatred.
The Australian sensation yesterday suffered a semifinal loss to Reilly Opelka at the ATP 250 Houston Open. Even though both the players pushed gears to give some out-of-the-box performance, it wasn’t the match that became the highlight. Instead, it was the rant between Kyrgios and the chair umpire. What started as a verbal argument between the two soon resulted in Kyrgios receiving a point penalty.
Nick Kyrgios experiences verbal abuse yet again
Top players and entertaining players are two categories of players that are often the most loved players on the tour. The two receive immense blessings and love from their fans and followers around the world. However, being the most popular players of the lot, they also fall victim to abuse and hatred from a section of social media users.
Nick Kyrgios is no different. Lately, being indulged in quite a handful of rants with umpires, Kyrgios has been receiving hate comments and messages on his social media account. A similar sight was seen today. Following his semifinal rant in Houston yesterday, Kyrgios received numerous hate messages on his social media handles.
Today Kyrgios took to his Instagram, uploading a series of stories. In the stories, the 26-year-old brought to light some of the hate messages received by him on Instagram yesterday.

Following his clash with the umpire in Miami, Nick Kyrgios during the press conference asserted that it is his family and friends that fall prey to all the negativity. The first story posted by Kyrgios was an example of it. In the first story, the user sent abusive messages to Kyrgios, directed toward her mother. The messages read, “You mum is B****. Son of a B****.”
The second story was a screenshot of a direct message from an Instagram handle. The user of the handle messaged Kyrgios saying, “F*** you you piece of s**t. Quit tennis.”

Players are usually used to receiving hate messages online. However, the user in the third story of Nick Kyrgios went a step further. Instead of sending a hate message, the user mentioned in the third story sent a threatening message to Kyrgios. The message read, “You are f****** dead watch your back.”
What happened in the court?
Losing the first set 6-3, Nick Kyrgios made a comeback in the second set. Going neck-to-neck against the lanky Opelka, Kyrgios took the score to 5-5, being on serve. 30-15 in the game, a conflict arose when the umpire missed a call, which Kyrgios felt that it was out. Furthermore, the unavailability of the Hawkeye made Kyrgios feel even more frustrated. Result of which? the argument soon turned into a heated one, with Kyrgios receiving a point penalty.
