I spent less than £6k on my wedding by making a few changes, including budget decorations and a taxi ride
WEDDINGS can cost a bomb.
For something that only lasts a day, it seems silly to splash so much cash on the the occasion.

This bride decided to save her pennies and have a smaller, budget friendly day.
Collet Collins, 35, and her husband Kipras Collins, 28, said I do at Severndroog Castle, London.
After Kipras popped the question in October 2019, the couple got straight to planning their big day.
They had a strict budget to stick to, Collet shared: ‘We wanted to keep the costs low, so aimed to spend between £6,000 and £12,000.

Because of the covid restrictions that were in place at the time, the duo were limited to 30 guests.
They opted for a venue with lots of outdoor space – luckily the sun was out on their big day.
They paid £1k for the ceremony venue and a further £2k for the reception venue and hotel, which included a full drinks package.
Colet said: “They gave us full use of the main restaurant and the garden, we were lucky we could both inside and outside.”

The thrifty bride saved by creating decorations by hand.
She explained: “There were handmade flower signs, a bride and groom sign and also made a backdrop with green ivy, It was all very flower heavy.
“We decided to have foam flowers, they look very real, and they were the best way to keep the cost down, plus they didn’t wilt in the sun.”
The duo wanted a “glamour garden theme” and opted for “metallic wedding colours.”
The bride said: “I collected branches from my local park, and then stuck white tissue paper around them to make them look like cherry blossom branches and these became the centrepieces on the tables.
“These were completely free, I didn’t spend a penny on them as the white tissue paper was from all of the bridesmaid shoe boxes, and dresses packaging.
“People were so impressed with the wedding and how it was done. People were complimenting the decorations telling me it looked amazing.”
The couple called in a few favours from old friends to add some extra flair to the wedding.
Collet’s old work, where the lovebirds first met, helped out with wedding favours.
“They gifted everyone a fully stamped loyalty card which meant everyone was able to get a free coffee,” She shared.
Family also helped out where they could, with Collet’s dress being a gift from her mum.
“It was a beautiful dress from Wed2be, and it was £599.
“I also had a second dress for the evening reception which was a sparkly dress that cost me £50 from a friend’s pageant dress shop, that should have been £100.
“My brother bought me my shoes, they were literally like Cinderella’s shoes, and they cost £13.50 from the shoe shop Deichmann, I knew when I saw them, they were just perfect.”

The pair were also gifted their wedding cake from Kipras’ mum.
“We were determined to keep the budget low and I’m so glad we managed to have a low budget luxury wedding that looked like it cost so much more.”
