Updated F1 Standings: Charles Leclerc Runs Away With the Championship Following Max Verstappen’s Dismal Australian GP Show
The Australian Grand Prix has finally concluded and what a weekend it has been for Charles Leclerc. With the win, the Leclerc further extended his lead and now almost has double points as his nearest competitor in P2.
The man from Monaco not only won the race but also took the fastest lap, won the driver of the day, and lead every single lap. A grand slam for the Monegasque indeed. As Charles won the race and both Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz had DNFs, who came up on top on the leaderboard?

Well, after two massive wins and a P2, Charles continues to lead the driver’s championship. After him, George Russell comes to take the P2 in the standings. Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz holds the P3 despite the DNF here at Albert Park.

With a P2 here in Australia, Sergio Perez of Red Bull pulls himself up into P4, ahead of Lewis Hamilton. In at P6, Max Verstappen holds on despite two DNFs in three races. Interestingly, Esteban Ocon of Alpine is at P7, ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris. In P9 and P10 Haas’s Kevin Magnussen and Valtteri Bottas of Alfa Romeo share the points. That concludes the top 10 in the point standings.

Charles Leclerc helped Ferrari extend the lead
As for the Constructor’s Championship, Ferrari continues to lead. The Italian team is followed by Mercedes with 65 points. Three DNFs out of six possible point opportunities leave Red Bull in P3 with 55 points. A good weekend for McLaren saw them come up in P4, followed by Alpine closely.

The bottom five consist of Alfa Romeo, Haas, AlphaTauri, and Williams. Aston Martin is yet to pick up a point this season and they form P10 in the Constructor’s Championship.
