Dale Earnhardt Jr Admits Next Gen’s Performance in Richmond-Martinsville “Shit”; However Defends NASCAR’s History on These Short Tracks

NASCAR fans not liking or being divided over a certain thing isn’t all that unusual. However, when a driver, and not just any driver, someone like Dale Earnhardt Jr joins in on a negative discourse, you just know things didn’t go down well.

There were many voices that were critical of the recent Martinsville weekend in NASCAR, a reaction that was quite similar to the preceding weekend at Richmond. In both instances, the criticism was particularly towards the racing, more precisely, that it was boring.

It was widely being discussed that the races, the Cup Series one and the Xfinity Series one, were underwhelming.

This led to journalist Jeff Gluck tweeting, “Here’s what pisses me off about this snoozefest: I’m worried it’s going to hurt the case for more short tracks. And that’s bullshit, because it’s not the track. But when you look at Richmond/Martinsville the last two weeks, something about this car doesn’t fit short tracks so far.”

“Richmond has been garbage for years and it’s freezing cold at Martinsville. Don’t think previous car would’ve been much better,” a fan replied.

“You are wrong,” Dale Earnhardt Jr chimed in. “No @DaleJr, he’s not. I was there for both races last weekend, and watched both races this weekend, and they were both shit,” another fan retaliated.

“They were shit. Yes,” Dale Jr. cleared.

Where will Dale Earnhardt Jr make his one-off appearance next year?

As per his own post-retirement tradition, Dale Earnhardt Jr races once a year in the Xfinity Series. This year, it was Martinsville. But for next year, he is considering his options, one of which he revealed recently.

“I’m gonna look forward to the next one,” Earnhardt Jr. said.

The NASCAR Hall of Famer confessed he “can’t wait to do it next season.” 

“We’ll try to go do another one next year. We just gotta figure out where we want to do that. Maybe Homestead again or something like that,” he added.
