Did Conor McGregor’s Protégé Just Give His Idol a Setback With This Nate Diaz Statement?

Ian Garry is one special individual. Fans love stories like Garry’s, which seems to be a gift that keeps on giving. After a satisfactory win at UFC 273 against Darian Weeks by Unanimous decision, Ian Garry only has one way to go, and it’s upwards.

Dubbed as ‘Conor McGregor’s protege,’ calling McGregor Ian Garry’s idol would be an understatement. From the first sight to inspiring a path to success, Ian Garry modeled his path in the way ‘The Notorious’ did. With two fights in the UFC now, Garry stated his dream fights that are leaps beyond from where he is currently.

After his UFC 273 bout, Ian Garry stated a few fights he’d love to go against stylistically in the post-fight conference. What he said might not just be leaps beyond his current position in the UFC but also the fact that it might hinder his idol’s path in the UFC.

“I think it’d be entertaining and I’d love to fight Diaz. because I definitely feel like I could stop him. Um there’s no, I just don’t think he could beat me I don’t get tired. I’m gonna piece the mouth off him.” Stated Garry.

Although Ian Garry confirmed that these are dream fights for him and not call outs yet, it would be a potential problem if they were call outs, in fact. His idol Conor McGregor is touted to return to the octagon this year, and Nate Diaz, as a matchup, is a majority fan favorite.

Garry potentially wanting to fight Diaz in some time would be a problem for McGregor. However, the Irishman remains the biggest draw in the promotion to date and will naturally trump any other fighter’s demands for a fight.
