FC Barcelona Break This Astonishing Record in the Top Five Leagues Under Xavi

FC Barcelona is going through a time of transition after the departure of Lionel Messi in the summer. The club really struggled to win anything at all during Messi’s final years, but things are changing this season for the better.

The club started horribly and was in ninth place in the league under Ronald Koeman. The Dutchman was inevitably sacked, and amidst a lot of uncertainty, former club legend Xavi was given the managerial role. However, that move looks like a masterclass now.

While the club was knocked out of the Champions League and dropped down into the Europa League. They are currently in the quarter-finals of the tournament and are one of the favorites to win it all. A trophy like that would be a great morale boost for a young team with a lot of potential.

Xavi’s FC Barcelona is breaking records

Xavi has totally turned the team around, and his best players are all youngsters. Gavi, Pedri, and Ansu Fati are the club’s best assets, and they are still teenagers. Other young players like Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araujo have been great as well.

January arrivals Ferran Torres and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang have both hit the ground running with over 10 goal contributions each. As a result of all this, Barca is now firmly in the hold of second place in La Liga and has the longest winning streak in Europe with seven games won on the trot.

Moreover, this also includes the infamous 4-0 win against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, which shocked the world.

What does the future hold for Barca?

Xavi’s young stars are really playing well, but the club is in need of more players. They have already reportedly signed AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie to give Sergio Busquets some cover, and also completed the transfer of Andreas Christensen from Chelsea.

Barca have been linked with several other players too, like Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski, but it will be interesting to see who they end up signing next season.
