‘Thank You, Tiger’: Masters Champion Scottie Scheffler Elucidates the Importance of Tiger Woods to His Career

Scottie Scheffler won the 2022 Masters and became the 55th different golfer to win the green jacket. He carded 71 on the final day and remained -10 for the event to win his first major championship. However, after this victory, Scottie Scheffler revealed the importance and influence of Tiger Woods on his career. 

Moreover, he wore Tiger’s shirt and shoes and even used his irons this week at Augusta National. Hence, this shows the dominance of Woods in the golfing world, and that’s what Scottie said after winning the prestigious event. Scheffler also talked about how Tiger’s Masters’ victory of 97 helped him stay focused today. 

“Tiger on the golf course is ridiculous,” said Scottie. “He’s done so much for the game of golf. I spoke about it a little bit at the beginning of the week. We are so glad to have him back out here.” Furthermore, he said that Tiger Woods is the needle in golf and his YouTube clips are an inspiration for him.

Tiger Woods has an incredible record at the Augusta National. He has won the green jacket five times in his career. However, his first win in 1997 was the most dominant victory. Hence, Scheffler revealed he remembered it on the final day to keep his concentration intact.

“I remember watching the highlights of him winning in ’97, kind of running away with it, and he never really broke his concentration. That’s something that I reminded myself of today. That’s something that I reminded myself of today. I tried not to look up. I tried to keep my head down and just keep doing what I was doing because I didn’t want to break my concentration,” said the 2022 Masters champion.

Moreover, he jokingly said that when he finally had the five-shot lead on the 18th hole green, he thought that he can enjoy this now. However, it turned out to be the opposite, as his four-putt led to a double bogey. Additionally, in the end, he just concluded by saying, “Thank You, Tiger.” 

Meanwhile, everyone was delighted to see Tiger competing. And most of the fans were not keen on his ranking, which is fair, especially after seeing the condition he was in around a year ago. Hence, everyone is grateful to have seen Tiger compete again at the Augusta National.
