Davis posted an Instagram story of him and his daughter, Gervanni Davis. There was a quote in the story that said, “Lol, hard work and dedication.”

Mayweather has always followed the mantra, “Hard work and dedication.”

Mayweather’s favorite phrase is a prominent fixture in his matches and press meets. Moreover, the phrase has been regularly chanted by fans at stadiums, especially in Mayweather’s presence.

Davis’ quote is in stark contrast to what Mayweather believes in. Especially the usage of the initialism ‘lol’ or laughing out loud. However, it is yet to be deduced if Davis meant it as a mockery of Mayweather’s beloved phrase.

Gervonta Davis was a long-time protegee of Floyd Mayweather. He was also signed to Mayweather’s promotion company, ‘Mayweather Promotions’.

However, the two champs have been on the news for their recent fallout. Davis even ended his association with Mayweather Promotions.

Davis mentioned in a now-deleted, tweet that his ‘contract ended’ with Mayweather Promotions. However, he mentioned that his promoters want him to fight Rolando Romero. He said, “My contract is up that’s why they want me to fight this clown so bad.”

Mayweather later responded to Davis’ tweet. He said, “He has to do what’s best for him. I feel like I’ve done a great job thus far I’ve been just building him and putting in good fights, great fights.”
