Jared Cannonier Believes Israel Adesanya Should Change His Fight Approach Against Him Amidst UFC Title Fight

The middleweight division is finally picking up steam for some entertainment. Names like Jared Cannonier, Sean Strickland, and Alex Pereira are ensuring that the stream of entertainment in the division increases by the second. Israel Adesanya, as champ, can only do so much while reigning at the top. 

Jared Cannonier fighting Adesanya has been confirmed by the champ himself. This is going to be a fight that fans are going to look forward to, given how both of these fighters are more strike-oriented than every other art of fighting. 

In an interview with Helen Yee, Cannonier shed light on his upcoming fight against ‘The Last Stylebender’.

‘The Killa Gorilla’ said, “It’s really hard to say right now. All I know without giving up too much of my game plan, is that it’s going to be very competitive. More competitive than any other fights that he’s had in the octagon. I’m sure it’s going to be the same thing same for me.” 

“But I’m going to anticipate less, just answering any of the questions that he’s gonna present to me, answering them with uh ferocity and I don’t know. Any other, any of those pretty words we can add to it. But, I don’t know. I feel like he’s going to have to change his approach, that’s for sure.”

The #2 middleweight contender continued, “It’s not going to be. You know he’s not going to be style bending in there, you know? Because I plan on um neutralizing his game and imposing minds like I do with any and everybody.” 

Is Jared Cannonier the greatest test for Israel Adesanya yet?

Jared Cannonier might be the #2 ranked middleweight in the division, but Robert Whittaker still sits above him. The Aussie came closer to dethroning Adesanya over everyone else in the middleweight division. Robert Whittaker’s power and incredible striking almost covered up for his lack of range and size compared to Adesanya. 

This being said, with 15 wins and five losses, Cannonier still has a long way to go before questioning his ability to test the likes of Adesanya and Whittaker. Never say never, though, as the sport of MMA can be very unexpected and can change in a split second.

Cannonier is next in line for the title and hopes to be ready to make the best out of it. The title fight will take place over five rounds, but fans are still unaware of which PPV will have the middleweight blockbuster. The summer holds a lot of prospects, and we can’t wait.
