The race at Virginia wasn’t a typical race with cautions, hits, and lead changes. When asked if Jeff was surprised by this, he stated, “Well I was surprised, I’ll be honest you know. We were trying to speculate what was going to happen. I was talking to all the crew chiefs and kind of getting their thoughts. I don’t think anybody would’ve guessed that it would’ve gone.”

Jeff Gordon attended an interview session with Rudy Fugle post-race. When asked about how did they approached the win, Jeff conveyed, “Especially because it’s a new car and they’re shifting every lap and it’s easy to lock the left front tire up and there’s just a lot of things and I think you all knew that it’d be deeper in the breaking zone, lap times has been faster. You know there was a lot of fall off.”

With the win at Martinsville Speedway, Hendrick Motorsports picked up their fourth win of the season. Talking about their stunning win at the circuit, Gordon further asserted, “Typically in that situation you’d say oh wait then people are going to get more desperate to make those bonsai moves, and then the cautions are going to come or hey what do we not know about this car that could kind of bite us today.”

How did the season turn out for Hendrick Motorsports so far?

Apart from the recent win at Martinsville, Kyle Larson and Alex Bowman gave the team back-to-back victories in Fontana and Las Vegas. Not only the team fetched wins in the second and third round, but also in the fifth round when William Byron brought home the Hampton race.
