LeBron James Gives 8 Word Reality Check on Lakers Future and Causes Chaos Among LA Fans
The regular season of the NBA has ended. The teams are set to battle it out in the play-in tournament and then the playoffs. The post season has the prospect of being one of the most exciting ones in recent history. Where many teams would be over the moon and fully motivated for the season they had, many teams would not be as happy. Rather many teams have underperformed and LeBron James’ Lakers are most possibly the team who have underperformed the most.
The Lakers were stuck on the 9th seed for almost all of 2022. They had a little ray of hope where they could have cemented their place in the play-in but they blew their opportunities. Many games that they should have won were lost because of the mere inconsistency of the team. They lost many games in which they had commanding positions but lost control of the game in ridiculous fashion. The Lakers went through many games where they were behind by about 20 points or so in the first quarter itself or they gave away leads of the same point difference.
Only positive the Lakers can possibly take out the season is the inspired performances from LeBron James. Even at 37, LeBron James averaged 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game. In his 19th season, he became the first person to record more than 10,000 points, rebounds, and assists in the history of basketball. He also surpassed Karl Malone in the scoring list to become the 2nd highest scorer in NBA history. Now LeBron has hinted at the future in store.

The following thread has all the details about it.
LeBron says he and Rich Paul can’t legally talk about an extension with the Lakers yet, so those conversations haven’t started.

The Lakers need to come back stronger next season. Their best chance to get back to the status they have a reputation for is still with LeBron James. However, this season was proof that in his 19th season, only LeBron can not win you the championship. They need to build a team of young, energetic players around LeBron James. Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis can still be of benefit if in fine form. Either way, the Los Angeles Lakers must make desperate changes in the off-season.
