Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods have both enjoyed a friendly rivalry. Moreover, the two golfing legends have played against each other in various events and enjoy friendly banter. However, the six-time major championship winner once spoke a few beautiful words for the 15-time major championship winner.

Professional rivalries are part and parcel of the sport. Moreover, it is the same case with golf, which has witnessed various rivalries. Among the fiercest ones are Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. But the competitive part to beat each other has always remained in the minds of both professionals.
However, both professionals have a tremendous amount of respect for each other. Back in 2005, when Tiger defeated the Lefty in Miami, the 51-year-old professional was all praises for the 82-time PGA Tour winner and spoke some beautiful words for Woods.

The 2005 Ford Championship in Doral, Florida, was one for the ages. The event saw two of the biggest rivals in golf, Woods, and Mickelson, battle it out for the title at the Blue Monsters course. Moreover, in the end, Tiger was the one to end the event on a high note and emerged as the winner of the event. He won the event with an overall score of 24-under-par. On the contrary, Phil finished just one shot behind Woods at an overall score of 23-under-par in the runner-up position.

Moreover, after the win, Phil, a true sportsman spoke some honest words about Tiger’s brilliance in the event, but with his twist in the end. The lefty said, “I enjoyed and loved playing against Tiger at his best. It was fun. Just don’t like the result. The result sucks.” Mickelson words how much respect he has for Woods as a player and opponent, but always wants to beat Tiger.
Phil registers history at the 2021 PGA Championship
Mickelson put his name in the history books at the 2021 PGA Championship. He won the 2021 PGA Championship and became the oldest major championship winner. He broke the record of Julius Boros, who won the 1968 PGA Championship at the age of 48. However, the lefty won the event at 50 in 2021. He won the event with an overall score of six-under-par. As a result, he won the event with a comfortable two-shots cushion.
Moreover, he carded a final round of one-over-par, 73. His final round of 73 included three birdies and three bogeys on the front nine. As a result, he moved out in level-par, 36. Phil made two brides and three bogeys to claim his sixth major championship victory.
