Lewis Hamilton awaits his honorary citizenship in Brazil
Lewis Hamilton‘s profession demands him to travel frequently. From winning in Singapore to commanding at his home turf at Silverstone, the 37-year-old has done it all. Amidst all this, it is very normal for drivers to find a genuine liking for some of the cities they travel to. Similarly, Lewis shares a unique bond with Brazil.
Sir Hamilton is a three-time winner at the Sau Paulo Circuit, with last year being his latest win. Brazilians also love having Hamilton in their country and are looking to award him with honorary citizenship. Lewis recently went there to deliver a keynote speech at the VTEX Day event. The 37-year-old is also a recent recipient of the knighthood.

Shedding a little light on his emotions, Lewis said, “It is such a beautiful culture. I’ve only been to Rio and Sao Paulo, but I want to come back for Christmas, New Year or something,”
“(Brazilian soccer international) Neymar invites me every year, and (pro surfer) Gabriel (Medina) invites me every year, but I never had the chance…I’m waiting for my Brazilian passport.”
Ayrton Senna, the Brazilian F1 legend, happens to be one of Hamilton’s biggest inspirations. There could not be a bigger gift to Lewis than the fact he might get to be a citizen in his idol’s home country one day.
Hamilton owns property in countries like Monaco
Hamilton now only awaits a bill that is pending in the lower house of the Brazilian Parliament. Whenever they decide to vote on it, if it is passed, Hamilton becomes a citizen of the South American country.
