There are some Britain’s Got Talent moments that have gone down in TV history as true golden moments… and Susan Boyle’s audition on the show in 2009 is one of them.
This Sunday, television’s ultimate talent contest returns, with Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams back on the judging panel and Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly hosting once again after a two-year hiatus.
Ahead of its comeback, members of the public recently took part in a poll voting for which moments they believed to be the most iconic on the ITV series, and Susan’s stirring performance of I Dreamed a Dream from Les Misérables was up there at the top.
Considering the clip of her first audition has over 23million views on YouTube, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that it remains at the forefront of BGT fans’ minds 13 years later.
In second place came Diversity’s first audition, which took place during the same series that Susan placed as a runner-up.
While Susan may have won this poll, back then, Diversity were the ones who walked away with the grand prize, going on to showcase their talents at the Royal Variety Performance.

Next up in third position is one of the most unexpected dance performances ever to appear on BGT, Stavros Flatley, consisting of father-son duo Demetrios and his son Michalakis ‘Lagi’ Andreas.
One of the most delightful animal acts ever to come out of BGT landed in fourth place, as fans will remember Ashleigh and her dog Pudsey performing a stellar routine to The Flintstones.

Fifth place on the poll went to Paul Potts, whose moving performance of Nessun Dorma led to him eventually winning the very first series of the series.
Dancer George Sampson, who won the second series, was in sixth place for his unique performance to Singing In The Rain, while Lost Voice Guy’s comedy routine was in seventh place on the poll.

Dance duo Twist and Pulse placed in eighth position, followed by Colin Thackery’s rendition of Wind Beneath My Wings, which he dedicated to his late wife.
Finally, 10th position went to illusionist Darcy Oake, who blew the judges away incorporating doves into his first audition.
