‘This Is a Stupid Rule’: Paige Spiranac Has a Bone to Pick With the Rules of Golf

Golf has various rules governing the sport. However, a few rules and regulations may be stern, and golf professionals may find them unnecessary. Paige Spiranac, a former golf professional, recently spoke about the ruling in golf with which she has a bone to pick with.

Spiranac is among the personalities in the golf world who openly voice their opinions. The 29-year-old is a retired professional turned social media sensation. She majorly resorts to uploading instructional golf content on her Youtube channel and is famous among her fans. On top of that, Paige also runs a very successful podcast, namely Playing a Round With Paige Renee, in which she appears with her co-host, Amanda Rose. Paige provides hot takes on golf and non-golf matters.

In the latest episode, the former professional gave her opinion about the golf rule, which she thinks is “stupid”. The golf fans will also find her opinion relatable.

In the new episode, Paige spoke about last week’s Masters tournament. Spiranac said, “I have a bone to pick with the rules of golf. Of course, everyone thought about this already, this is a stupid rule. So you know when you hit a shot and you don’t know where it is you have a provisional right.”

She added, “Why is it that after you hit your provisional and you find your other ball but you decide you don’t want to play it and you have to go back and provisional the option should be that once you lose if you find your golf ball you can have the option to either take an unplayable or if you don’t want to that you can go and play your provisional ball.”

Every golfer will find this very relatable with their game and maybe also agree with Spiranac. The ruling is not only a hindrance for amateurs or regular golfers. But the rule 18.3 also proves costly for the professionals as well when they are in contention or trying to win an event.

Why did Paige Spiranac retire from professional golf?

The 29-year-old professional was amongst the rising stars in the golf world. Moreover, she won her first event as a professional in June 2016 at Orange Tree Country Club on the Cactus Tour. She carded a final round of 68 to win the event. As a result, she defeated Hannah O’Sullivan. The number one ranked amateur at that time.
