‘A Big Commitment’: Tiger Woods Adds Another Event to His 2022 Schedule

The 2022 Masters marked the end of yet another enthralling edition. The Highlight of the major championship event was Tiger Woods making his comeback at Augusta National. Moreover, the 15-time major championship winner recently revealed another event in his 2022 schedule with the season moving forward.

Tiger Woods commits to another event in 2022

Woods made arguably one of the greatest comebacks in the history of sports at the Masters. Moreover, the 82-time PGA Tour winner was plying his first event since the 2020 Masters in November. Tiger was out from golf for nearly nine months due to severe injuries to his right leg because of a near-fatal car accident in February 2021.

With the Masters concluded on Sunday, Tiger has now confirmed his next stop for the 2022 Summer. The World Golf Hall of Fame Member has committed to play at the JP McManus Pro-Am on July 4th- 5th, a week before the Open Championship at the home of golf in St. Andrews.

Not to forget, in his interview with Sky Sports after the final round on Sunday, Woods spoke about playing at the Open Championship. He said, “But I am looking forward to St. Andrews. It’s my favorite golf course in the world, so I will be there for that one.”

On Thursday, it was announced that Woods would make at least one appearance ahead of the Open. He will play at the Pro-Am event in Ireland at Adare Manor, which will also host the 2027 Ryder Cup. Moreover, Tiger will make his fourth appearance at the event. He had committed to playing the event before it was rescheduled due to COVID-19 restriction.

JP McManus Pro-Am has not taken place since 2010. Woods committed to play at the event last week at the Masters where he met the event host. In an interview with Virgin Media News, JP McManus revealed the same. He said, “I met him at Augusta, and he told me ‘I’m coming. Which is a big commitment from Tiger.”

Moreover, McManus also wrote a statement confirming Woods’ participation. He wrote, “Tiger has been a great friend and avid supporter of the Pro-Am for a very long time, and we are absolutely thrilled he has committed to play once again in the tournament.” Other big names who are going to play at the two-day event are Rory McIlroy, John Rahm, Collin Morikawa, and others.

What did Woods shoot on Sunday at Augusta?

Tiger made a solid finish to his Masters campaign at Augusta. Moreover, the former World Number One ended the event with an overall score of 13-over-par. In turn, Woods finished the event in solo 47th position. The five-time Masters winner carded a final round of six-over-par, 78. His final round of 78 included one birdie and three bogeys on the front nine. As a result, Woods moved out in two-over-par, 38.

Tiger made two bogeys and one double-bogey on the back nine to wrap up his quest at the 86th Masters. Moreover, Tiger may not have won the major championship event. But for sure, he played exceptionally well throughout four rounds last week. Not to forget, Woods won his first major championship title at the Masters in 1997 and has fond memories of the event.
