“Has Renault Daniel Ricciardo Era Vibes” – NASCAR Fans Go Gaga Over Dale Earnhardt Jr-Inspired Livery for Austin Dillon

Recently, a graphic designer created a beautiful-looking NASCAR livery for the #3 car of Austin Dillon. The design drew inspiration from the Chevrolet Corvette that ran in the 2001 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. As it turned out, the late great Dale Earnhardt, and his son Dale Earnhardt Jr drove that car to 4th place.

Although it was not an official throwback livery, fans still loved it. In fact, a fair number of them were begging Richard Childress Racing to make it a reality. The livery was bright yellow, with a black #3 emblazoned on the side of the car. Some fans even attempted a mini-crossover with mentions of Formula One. To be precise, a few people were reminded of the Renault F1 car with Daniel Ricciardo.

Look’s awesome! But this isn’t a “Nascar Throwback” Looks great tho

Many acknowledged that the Corvette cars of that time were great cars. After all, the Earnhardt family was able to steer that Corvette to a fine 4th place at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. Rather cruelly, it would also be the last ever major race that Dale Earnhardt Sr finished. A couple of weeks later, the 7-time Cup Series champion tragically lost his life during the Daytona 500.

I like it, those corvettes were great, although it’s just yellow is it really a throwback? I guess this is what they have to work with

What lies ahead for Austin Dillon in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series?

Whether Richard Childress Racing will actually heed the fans, is a different question altogether. At the moment, the outfit, as well as Dillon, is focused on the current season. The 31-year-old has performed admirably well so far, with two Top 5 and two Top 10 finishes. In fact, his highest ever finish in this year’s campaign is 2nd place, which came at the Auto Club Speedway.

Fortunately for him, the season is still long and anything can happen. Austin Dillon already has three career wins under his belt. Victory Lane is not a foreign concept for him, but he will have to fight harder this time around. The likes of Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing are undoubtedly the favorites. However, there are chances that Dillon and his teammate Tyler Reddick could be dark horses.
