Relive Errol Spence Jr.’s Deadly Car Accident Before His Fight With Yordenis Ugas

Unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. is currently preparing to defend his titles at the AT&T Stadium on April 16. However, a throwback video from 2019 shows the champ was involved in a career-threatening car crash.

The crash happened on the October 10, 2019. Spence Jr. was driving his Ferrari 488 Spider through the streets of Dallas, Texas when the near-fatal accident occurred.

Spence, who was under the influence of alcohol, lost control of his car. The vehicle veered onto the center median and flipped multiple times.

However, Spence was ejected from the car. It was also noted that Spence was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. He suffered multiple facial lacerations and was hospitalized for six days.

The Dallas Police Department charged Spence Jr. with a DWI. However, he avoided jail time and received probation instead.

Errol Spence suffered from PTSD

Spence further revealed that he suffered from PTSD after the accident.

Spence was talking at ‘The Good Fight‘ with the host, Kate Abdo. In conversation, Abdo asked him if he suffered from trauma after the accident.

In response, Spence said, “Oh definitely.”

Moreover, he further delved into the details of his PTSD. He added, “When I was driving like, I have like different flashes of like a car that’s running into me. Or I’ll be at a red light and I’ll have fast cars just hitting me.”

He also mentioned that he tries to keep the flashes in control.

However, Spence also revealed that he was involved in a second accident after the incident.

He talked about the accident, saying, “I actually got into another accident three months after my accident. Somebody hit me from behind.”

‘The Truth’, however, wasted no time in spitting some truth about his sturdiness. He added, “It’s really hard to really just get me. Like I’m always getting killed.”

Spence also mentioned that his insurance company cut ties with him due to his frequent accidents.

Yordenis Ugas vs Spence Jr.

Spence will face Cuban boxer Yordenis Ugas at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Spence will be defending his WBC and IBF welterweight titles. The duo will be fighting for the WBA (Super) Welterweight title.
