Belal Muhammad, After the Biggest Win of His UFC Career, Defied Khabib Nurmagomedov To Call Out Colby Covington

Khabib Nurmagomedov had heavily criticized Colby Covington for his Jorge Masvidal Miami incident. ‘The Eagle’ wanted extreme steps taken against ‘Chaos’. However, the UFC Vegas 51 main event winner, Belal Muhammad, went completely opposite of Nurmagomedov and shared other plans after the biggest win inside the Octagon.

The welterweight fighter, ‘Remember The Name’ Muhammad after his win over Vicente Luque, called out Colby Covington.

It is interesting to note that after Jorge Masvidal-Colby Covington‘s reported brawl outside the Papi Steak in Miami, Florida, Nurmagomedov suggested all the welterweight fighters should dismiss Covington. However, Nurmagomedov faced backlash for his comments.

Moreover, it appears Belal Muhammad didn’t note Nurmagomedov‘s comments. Subsequently, he used his time on the microphone with a callout of his biggest challenge in the division to get to the welterweight gold, Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington.

Muhammad improved his unbeaten streak to 8 and snapped Luque‘s four-fight finish streak. Also, this was a rematch; In their first bout, Muhammad had suffered a crushing defeat in the first round.

Why did Khabib Nurmagomedov want to blacklist Colby Covington?

Muhammad was not missing on the opportunity to call out one of the best welterweights in his division, in order for him to move close to Kamaru Usman. But, what led Nurmagomedov to offer the welterweights to boycott Covington?

The issue between Covington and Masvidal saw the former take the help of the authorities. Covington’s move to press charges and involve Masvidal’s family to take a dig at ‘Gamebred’ ahead of their battle didn’t sit well with the Russian fighter. Subsequently, he asked all welterweights to not take a fight with Covington.

Why did Belal Muhammad call out Colby Covington?

The #6 welterweight, Muhammad, defeated the #5 welterweight fighter, Vicente Luque. Thus, he would move into the top five of the UFC rankings in the next update.

Only Colby Covington, Gilbert Burns, Leon Edwards, and Khamzat Chimaev are ahead of Muhammad in the UFC welterweight rankings.

Gilbert Burns and Khamzat Chimaev just had a crazy ‘Fight of the Year’ candidate performance at UFC 273. The fight saw both the fighters take damage, hence both could be out for a certain amount of time. Also, Leon Edwards will take on Kamaru Usman soon, as stated by UFC President Dana White.

Thus, only Colby Covington is available in the top five for Belal Muhammad. Furthermore, he would be a massive fight for the name value of Muhammad. Consequently, it makes all the sense in the world for Belal Muhammad to call out ‘Chaos’ and not listen to the outrageous request of the Dagestan-born.
