WATCH: 48-Year-Old Legendary NFL WR Bags Touchdown at FCF League
One of the greatest pro football wide receivers has come out of retirement. However, this time, he isn’t in the NFL. Terrell Owens has made it back to the turf in the Fan Controlled Football League. Although his NFL career ceased in 2010, he remains in peak condition and is eager to get back to the next tier. Despite the age, he still catches passes with ease, and has been scoring touchdowns on the turf.
During a 15-year NFL career that landed him a position in the Pro Football HOF, WR Terrell Owens, whose brilliance and agility on the field were unquestionable; became notorious for his humorous goal celebrations. He is by far the most well-known athlete to join Fan Controlled Football. The league also includes former college phenom Johnny Manziel, whose insanely hyped NFL career ended after 2 years. Both of them will play together on the Zappers.
The NFL Icon has aged like wine
Fans who tuned in to the FCF game on Sunday saw Terrell Owens take a Touchdown grab in the end zone. For someone who is 48-year-old, snapping passes in the year 2022 is a spectacular moment to witness. Owens was the featured attraction on the inaugural week of the second season of the league. He donned “Prototype81” instead of his name on the back of his No. 81 jersey.

Owens’ Zappers fell 20-12 to the Shoulda Been Stars on Saturday. However, his performance on the court was perhaps the most inspiring. That is, it’s not very often that a player ranks third all-time in the NFL with 15,934 receiving yards and 153 touchdown receptions play for the FCL.

The Fan Controlled Football is a seven-on-seven indoor start-up tournament in which fans call plays on offense and vote on regulations. WR Owens announced his comeback for his second pro-football run, according to Reuters. Tiki and Ronde Barber own franchises in the league, as do Marshawn Lynch, Austin Ekeler, Richard Sherman, and Dalvin Cook.
For someone who gained notoriety over his wild celebratory moments, it was quite amusing to see the WR not doing it. If Owens plans to celebrate by splashing popcorn onto his helmet like before, he’ll just have to settle until his next touchdown.
